Detailed Work Activities:

  • cut and arrange live, dried, or artificial flowers and foliage.
  • receive customer orders, and sell merchandise
  • apply telephone communication in customer service
  • apply customer service techniques collect payment
  • distinguish between plants, flowers, design techniques and colors
  • consult with customers concerning needs and follow customer instructions
  • obtain and record information from clients and customers
  • assist to arrange floral offerings
  • fabricate craft or art objects and apply creativity to art or design
  • assist to design decorative displays and merchandise display
  • attend meetings and/or presentations as requested
  • retrieve or place goods from/into storage and wrap products where necessary
  • stock or organize incoming goods, apply price to merchandise
  • package goods for shipment or storage
  • clean rooms or work areas
  • make deliveries where necessary

Tasks include:

  • Confer with clients regarding price and type of arrangement desired and the date, time, and place of delivery.
  • Unpack stock as it comes into the shop.
  • Perform general cleaning duties in the store to ensure the shop is clean and tidy.
  • Assist for designing arrangements, working with numerous combinations to synthesize and develop new creations.
  • Perform office and retail service duties such as keeping financial records, serving customers, answering telephones, selling giftware items and receiving payment.
  • Assist for the decoration of buildings, halls, churches, or other facilities for parties, weddings and other occasions.
  • Inform customers about the care, maintenance, and handling of various flowers and foliage, indoor plants, and other items.
  • Wrap and price completed arrangements.
  • Water, cut, condition and clean flowers, plants, and foliage for storage.

 The following knowledge is preferred:

Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems.

Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.

Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.

Starting Wage:                                                         $ 9.00 – 11.00/hr.

Hours/Week:                                                              5 – 15
